It is a tax applied in Turkey according to Law No. 3065 adopted in 1984, which is a consumption tax paid by the buyer to the seller in the delivery of goods and services.
Those who submit monthly declarations shall submit the declaration of any month until the 28th day of the following month at the latest.
The declaration must be paid no later than the evening of the 28th day of the given month. Consumers pay when purchasing goods or services.
It is easily calculated using the formulas below.
Calculation formula including VAT: (Net Amount) × [1 + (Tax Rate/100)]
Example: If 18% VAT is added to the amount of 1000 TL, 1000 × 1.18 = 1180 TL.
Calculation formula excluding VAT: (Gross Amount) / [1 + (Tax Rate/100)]
Example: VAT excluded amount of 1180 TL including 18% VAT: 1180 / 1,18 = 1000 TL
The formula for finding the tax base from the tax amount is as follows:
Base = (VAT Amount × 100) / VAT Rate
Example: If the VAT amount is 200 TL and the rate is 20%: (200 × 100) / 20 = 1000 TL
The total amount of VAT collected by businesses from customers.
